Meri Kirihimete Christmas 2021 Singing Project

You might remember the Hawaiian Christmas song made famous by Bing Crosby & The Andrews’ Sisters… below you will find tracks to help you learn & record your part for our unique MOSAIC version.

Our version uses the Te Reo translation to give this sweet island Christmas song a distinct Aotearoa flavour. Meri Kirihimete is pronounced “Meh - ree Kee - ree - hee - meh - teh”

Follow these steps to take part in this project

  1. LEARN YOUR PART

    Use the Learning Track below to learn your part. (Listen as many times as you need)
    Gauge your readiness to record by singing along with the Backing Track.

  2. RECORD YOUR PART
    Once you are comfortable singing your part from start to finish, use your phone to record your voice (sing along with the Backing Track playing through headphones). Your phone should have a recorder function on your phone.

  3. UPLOAD YOUR RECORDING FILE
    Use the details at the bottom of this page to send your recording to be included in our special MOSAIC Choir recording

  1. LEARN YOUR PART

    Use the sheet music & the Learning Track below to learn your part. (Listen as many times as you need!) Gauge your readiness to record by singing along with the Backing Track.

2. RECORD YOUR PART

Once you are comfortable singing your part from start to finish, use your phone to record your voice

  • Plug in head phones to your computer & play the Backing Track playing through headphones.

  • Sing along with the Backing Track playing through headphones (if someone was in the room, they should only hear your voice since the backing track is playing quietly directly to your ears)

  • Find Voice Recorder on your phone. (You might find it along with other “tools” or search the apps on your device)

  • Make a Test Recording: Push record, say something then push stop to end the recording. Name your recording “Test for today” & then listen back to it. You might want to try a few times to build your confidence.

  • Make your Recording: Push record, then start the Backing Track (there will be some silence while you listen to the intro & that is fine) push stop to end the recording. Name your recording “MYNAME Meri Kiri” & then listen back to it to check it’s all there.
